Digi-Tool

QCTool
Quality Check Tool is used to make sure the quality at various stages like Scanning, Processing to verify whether Scanned / Processed TIFF files met with specified standards. This tool is used at the end of each stage in the process to ensure that the basic attributes of the pages, which can be checked through an automated process, can be verified.

The attributes that are checked with the tool are:

a. What the color setting of the scanned pages is.
b. What the compression standard used is.
c. Resolution of the pages.
d. Whether the pages are of a standard physical size
e. Whether the file naming convention is consistent.
f. How many blank pages have been scanned.
g. How many pages have a file size more than the standard file size.
h. Comparison of no of pages between the metafile qty OTIFF folder and the PTIFF folder.

SplitTool
While scanning the left and right pages scanned have different properties and margins. The processing of these pages become easier if we are in a position to separate them so that the same parameters can be applied to them globally. Cropping will be easy if we divide scanned pages as Left and Right pages. This tool will divide OTIFF files of selected Book Folder in to Left and Right folders.

CropTool
The first part of the processing after scanning is to remove all the noise and get the page closest to its size. Normally a photo editor is used and the noise to be removed is selected. This involves a number of selections and deletions. The cropping tool allows us to select the portion of the page that we would like to retain through a frame and the rest of the page is deleted. The frame can be made constant and applied to the consecutive pages. Through this tool if the book scanned is of proper quality an experienced operator can crop approx 20 pages in a minute. Through this tool the noise can also be selected to delete as in any other editor. There is also a facility to batch process the cropping in case the pages are consistently placed. The tool crops all the pages of a book with one click. This tool is used to remove noise around text on single click and clear black shades on various parts of image.

ViewTool
Normal image viewers take a lot of time to load images and do not allow us to edit the images. The image viewer developed helps us to check the visual quality of a page scanned and also edit any small noise. Magnification of the pages is also possible to view small noise specks. This tool is used to view images in various views, to find and remove little bit of noise also in image and to find skew. Skew in the pages after processing can be identified by a frame that is made as close to the text as possible and if the text comes out of the frame the page is sent back for reprocessing.

CountTool
Displays File count of subfolders of selected Book Folder, to verify whether all are uniform or not.

RenumTool
While scanning it is often found that a page is omitted by oversight and need to be added to the folder. As we are handling books it is imperative that we ensure that all the pages are in requisite sequence. Generally problem is encountered with insertion of a page or a number of pages would involve renumbering of all pages, which come after that. This tool renames the file according to the standard that has been specified for page numbering.
